Inside Ventures and New Business – meet four innovators with entrepreneurial spirit
25 APRIL 2025
“I get to think big and be visionary,” says Michaela Engman at Scania Ventures and New Business. Curious about what she and her colleagues are working on? Come inside.
Working with cutting-edge technology, starting ventures from the ground up, and being close to the action in the fundamental shift of the transport industry – these are just some of the factors that excite and unite the team at Ventures and New Business, Scania’s arm for business innovation.
We’ve filmed four of our team members as they describe their work within the part of Scania dedicated to backing startups and harnessing new ideas, technologies, and business models outside the core business. Together, they help shape the transport system of tomorrow.
Meeting customers sparks ideas
Michaela Engman is a Venture Builder, finding and building new business to complement Scania’s core. “I get to think big and be visionary,” she says in this film.
She describes her role as creative and entrepreneurial while building something from scratch. “The best ideas come from being out exploring and meeting customers and talking to potential partners.”
Major benefits for startups
Georg von Zedtwitz-Liebenstein is Tech Lead for new ventures at Scania, responsible for technology development, including software and data. “What I enjoy the most is the combination of working with very interesting technology development but also to be very close to the business development and delivering value to our customers,” he says in this film.
He sees major benefits for new ventures in the Scania ecosystem. “Scania has a brand and reputation that we can leverage, but also strong capabilities across many areas – from the commercial network to technology development within a very resourceful R&D department,” he adds.
Proud to push for the green transition
Sarah Holford, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, says that what excites her at work is the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and to find new investment opportunities.
“The thing I'm most proud of at Scania is our push for the green transition,” Sarah says in this film.
Get to be part of the shift
Karl Lindoff is an Investment Analyst at Ventures and New Business, a role that includes financial due diligence and co-leading transactions. Being part of a fast-paced startup environment suits Karl perfectly.
“What makes me most proud of working at Scania is being close to the action in a fundamental shift in the transport and supply chain industry,” he says in this film.
“I chose to work for Ventures and New Business at Scania because it’s one of the key industries that has the ability to shape our future,” he adds.
